In 2016, Austin & Alexandra Schmidt began their lives together. A year later, they were lucky enough to purchase 33 acres in New Berlin, Wisconsin. There was no house on the land so they continued to live in Waukesha in a small & cozy town house during the first years of their marriage. In 2019 they welcomed their first child into the family, a daughter named Leona. 

In the beginning of 2020, they had a plan: rent out the house in Waukesha and live in a camper while building a home on their land in New Berlin. COVID turned the world upside down - but they continued on. The building industry nearly halted. Winter came and they moved out of the camper and in with family. They started building a home on December 31, 2020 and then discovered...baby number 2 was on the way! In the spring of 2021, a very pregnant Alexandra surprised her husband by building a chicken coop and purchasing a bunch of chicks to raise...more girls to take care of! In August of 2021, Elsie joined the family and they moved into their forever home.

House projects came and went, new business endeavors, more family memories, and then in July of 2023, they welcomed another daughter: Maisey. Tending to three daughters, too many chickens & then some quail, a loyal dog, a few pigs, a growing garden - all while enjoying new & old recipes, chasing whitetails in the fall, running several small businesses, working on the property and maintaining big dreams for the future.
